Who we are
Healingwound Association (HWA) is a registered Namibian non-profit organisation (Registration 21/2017/0967), based in Walvis Bay, Namibia. We are committed to protecting the privacy and dignity of everyone who interacts with us — survivors, volunteers, donors, and the wider community.
Information we collect
We only collect what we need, and only when you choose to give it:
- Volunteer applications: name, email, phone, area, role interest, your message, and (optionally) a CV you upload.
- Contact messages: name, email, phone, and your message.
- Donations: the details needed to process and acknowledge your gift.
- Newsletter: your email address, if you subscribe.
How we use it
To respond to you, review volunteer applications, acknowledge and account for donations, and (with consent) keep you updated on our work. We never sell your information, and we never share it for marketing.
How we protect it
Your data is stored in a secure, access-controlled database. CVs and sensitive documents are kept in private storage that is never publicly accessible — they can only be viewed by authorised staff through a protected login. Connections to our site are encrypted (HTTPS).
Photos & consent
We treat images of people with care. A photograph that identifies an individual is only published once we have that person's consent and it has been reviewed by our team. If you appear in an image and would like it removed, contact us and we will act promptly.
Your rights
You may ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop contacting you, at any time. We will respond as required under Namibian data-protection principles.
Cookies & analytics
We use minimal, privacy-respecting analytics to understand how the site is used and improve it. We do not use intrusive advertising trackers.
